What does one do if the hinge pocket on a wood door fails and the screws pull out?
Almost any “fix” will be somewhat temporary and failing doors present a hazard to people and equipment.
One viable solution is a half-surface butt hinge like the one shown at right. The existing frame hinge pockets are re-used and the door leaf is thru-bolted through the door for a permanent solution!
One of our local school systems in Virginia uses half-surface hinges with thru-bolts on ALL new construction projects.
